Temporary Sculpture Series by Wong + Megirian

2021

Commissioned by Perth Festival as part of its 2021 arts program, Great Worth is a series of temporary sculptures bringing together natural and found objects with bespoke forms designed by Wong + Megirian and realised by local makers.

Drawing on the incidental compositions produced through everyday acts of convenience and efficiency: gravity-defying stacks of dishes on a drying rack, precariously piled belongings or carrying unwieldy loads to avoid a second trip. These domestic arrangements are reimagined through previous materials and handcrafted objects, transforming routine gestures into precious sculptural statements. an exploration of balance, material value, labour, and the aesthetics of everyday life, turning routine acts of organisation into carefully staged sculptural events.

The resulting arrangements were documented as photographic works and presented as a suite of large-format prints in Fair Isle, a group exhibition at DAAADA Gallery.
