Fair Isle
Peth Festival exhibition at DAADA Gallery
2021
Adapted from the catalogue: Featuring new works by Western Australian artists, designers, photographers, and writers, the exhibition explores how artists use their practices to develop forms of adaptation and self-sufficiency, to build spaces of learning and care, and to create continuity and community amidst disruption.
Making processes that require focus and repetition offer time to reflect, record, prepare, repair, and to manifest histories and cultural traditions. In a period when attention has been re-focused on creativity at home amid the social and economic disruption resulting from COVID-19, Fair Isle honours the quiet activism of craft-based practices and collective forms of production by reframing the gallery as a space for actively 'thinking through making'.
Including a new series of photographs by Wong + Megirian, Good Measure.
