An exploration of materials and techniques adapted from gold and silversmithing, translated into larger-scale wall works or “house jewellery” - a brightly coloured flower to adorn the home.

Created for the former home of Australia’s first women-only club, the Karakatta Club (founded in 1894), the piece acknowledges the building’s history as a site of women’s suffrage, intellectual debate, and social advocacy. The floral motif subtly references the club’s inclusion of a room dedicated to flower arranging. In this context, the work reflects on practices and labour traditionally associated with decoration, craft, and the domestic sphere, recognising their contribution to artistic expression and their positioning within institutional and discursive frameworks that shape cultural hierarchies of recognition and significance.
The work was exhibited in The Great Reveal, a group exhibition marking the launch of Lawson Flat’s Lawson Gallery, curated by Annika Kristensen.
